3 years ago, I felt I had no control of my business. I didn't handle the accounts, super was a mess and I had no relationship with my accountants. I wanted to sell the business. By chance I was introduced to MJS Business & Financial Services (we are in Sydney and they are based in Perth). The advice I received was to change to Xero, don't sell expand the business and get the accounts into order. It wasn't easy, a lot of hard work and endless hours of pain. Plus, I'm not the easiest person to work with either. However, I was guided by MJS throughout the entire ordeal, step by step and I can truly say that my financial position today is remarkable from where I was. I feel totally in control and now hold the power.
I have a fantastic relationship with MJS, I consider them part of my team. I can call and ask about anything. I have found them to provide good solid advice and direction. As a business owner who has high expectations and is sometimes demanding I am more than satisfied and would recommend MJS to anyone.
Malcolm Stewart has been looking after my personal tax for over 20 years. When I purchased a business from liquidators 6 years ago, I engaged MJS and signed on for their Virtual CFO programme. This allowed us to draw on their support and expertise and did away with the need to hire expensive financial employees - all of this for a very reasonable, fixed monthly fee.
We communicate by phone and email and collaborate in Xero several times each week as well as meeting monthly to go over budgets, financial performance and business planning. Our business is now both profitable and reputable, something we would not have achieved without MJS as part of our team.
I first met Paul and Malcolm 4 years ago when I applied for an administration job with their company. I worked for them for a year and found the business to be run effectively for all clients. When an opportunity arose for my husband and I to start a business, it was to Paul we turned. He helped us through the rigourous process of establishing a company and guided us through the maze that is the ATO!
We have been running our business successfully now for 3 and a half years. In that time Paul has always been at the end of the phone or email to help us make informed decisions. We have since entrusted our self managed superannuation fund, and Bloodline Trust to him. We are starting a new venture to run parallel with our existing business, and are happy that all our financial and accounting requirements will be executed in and effective and timely matter by Paul.
I initially employed Paul about 18 months ago, on the recommendation of a friend, to manage my superannuation portfolio. He proved very helpful and even though the proposed purchase of a commercial property fell through due to the seller changing his mind, Paul transformed my superannuation portfolio so that I now feel very confident about my future. I feel fortunate to have found him.
In more recent times, the economic slump in WA has led serious concerns about my previously thriving small business. I have asked Paul for informal advice on a number of occasions in the last year, and he has offered observations and suggestions that have probably saved my business. On the basis of his support and his tremendous ability to understand business operations, interpret a spreadsheet, and see the big picture, I have employed him as a business coach. I am looking forward to working with him to continue to solve the problems that my small business has been confronting.
Paul is a very organised and exceptionally ethical Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) and Financial Planner. Not only is he meticulous about ensuring that correct procedures are followed, he offers sound advice that is both original and prudent.
I unequivocally recommend Paul to anyone who requires sound, ethical advice offered with a compassionate yet detached approach to achieve the best financial outcomes, always matched to the needs of the individual client.
